Students Use Solar Panels to Recharge
| As photovoltaic solar panels gain popularity around the world, schools in the Mid-West recognize the need for clean, renewable energy. Currently, photovoltaics are slow to launch in the United States because of the high initial investment. But one school, the University of MInnesota-Morris, is determined to show students the value of solar. |

Recently, the school invested in a portable solar chargers. To use one, a student checks out a cord and lock, walks to the charger, and plugs in MP3 players, cell phones, computers, and portable gaming devices.
The placement of the device shows students that solar panels are modern, not futuristic, devices. They also teach students how solar panels work.
The panel works whether it's sunny, cloudy, or cold. It also teaches students to be more energy conscous. By charging devices through renewables, it promotes students to search for other ways to save energy. Hopefully, it will encourage students to push for more renewables on campus.
